The 'Table -  Multiple answers' question type allows respondents to select one or more possible answers, which are located in the header of the table. These answers are the same for several different sub-questions or categories, which are located in the rows on the left-hand side of the table.

This type of question is best suited for displaying multiple 'Categories - Multiple answers' (checkbox) questions that have the same possible answers.

With this question type, respondents enter numbers according to one or more of the criteria located in the header of the table and according to the sub-questions or categories located in the rows on the left-hand side of the table. This question type is, for example, a good choice for entering the number of visits to different countries in different years.

This question type allows the respondents to choose one criteria in the head of the column, on the basis of which they then evaluate the items or topics that are located in rows on the left side of the table. This question type is the most convenient way to display questions where different topics have the same possible answers.

An example of such a question could be satisfaction with a website. For example, the developers of a website can use a single question to gain insight into user satisfaction with the design, usability, speed, etc. To achieve the same effect without this question type, three individual questions of the 'Categories - Single Answer' type would be needed instead, which would complicate the creation of the questionnaire and the subsequent analysis of the data.

The 'Dropdown table' question type is the same as 'Classic table', with the exception of radio buttons being replaced by a drop-down menu.

This type of question allows respondents to rank the possible answers in order. For example, they can rank their favourite beverages or tell which online survey tool they use more often than others.

The functionality is available for users of the 2KA and 3KA packages for individuals, and for users of the business packages for groups.

When editing a survey in the 'EDIT' - 'Questionnaire' tab, you have the option to preview the survey before the survey is activated. To open the preview, click on the 'Preview' button at the top of the page. This allows you to check the order of the questions, the functioning of the conditions and warnings, etc. In preview mode, no data is saved.

To preview the survey in the basic view, select 'Computer'. If your survey will also be answered on mobile devices, there is also a preview for mobiles and tablets.

Regardless of the preview device you choose, you can switch between devices within the preview page by selecting the device you want from the menu on the right.

Additional settings are also available in the preview for easier viewing:

• Disable verification of conditions and alerts;
• Display conditions and blocks above questions;
• Display variable names.

In the case of longer surveys where you have a large number of pages, you can also use the 'Jump to page' option, where you can select the page you want to see in the preview.

When editing a questionnaire in the 'EDIT' - 'Questionnaire' tab, 'Advanced settings' are available above the questionnaire.

Find and replace words

You can easily replace words that appear repeatedly in the questionnaire. In the first field, enter the word or phrase you want to correct, and in the second field, enter the word or phrase you want to replace the first one with.

To search the questionnaire only, use the CTRL + F command.

Add page break between all of the questions

If you want respondents to see each question on its own page, you can add a page break between all questions in your questionnaire with one click.

Check the correctness of the conditions

To help you correct any errors, there is an option to 'Check the correctness of the conditions'. This feature is particularly useful if you use conditions and loops in your survey. By clicking on the bug icon, the application will warn you in a pop-up window if the survey contains errors and also where the error is located.

The application will also warn you of errors if you want to activate a survey that contains errors in the terms and conditions, without you checking that the terms and conditions are correct. More on this in FAQ >>

Enumerate

The numbering of questions is in principle generated automatically in order (Q1, Q2, Q3, etc.), but moving or deleting questions can break the order. By clicking on the enumerate option, you can restore the correct order. This does not apply to variables which you have previously changed the names of. More on this in FAQ >>

Display collapsed view

Additional icons for the collapsed and expanded view can be found on the right-hand side.

In the collapsed view, only questions without answers are shown, which enhances transparency. Transparency is especially useful when questionnaires are complex and long. It is recommended to use the collapsed view for as few as 30 questions. You can switch between the collapsed and expanded view at any time (from one icon to the other).

If you have structured your questions into blocks or used loops, you will also see the options 'Open all blocks and conditions' and 'Close all blocks and conditions' under 'Advanced settings', which allow you to open and close your question blocks with a single click.

Structuring questions into blocks and some of the functionalities described are only available for users of the 2KA and 3KA packages for individuals, and for users of the business packages for groups.

The "Voting" survey type supports the process of anonymous voting. Voting is a one-question survey ("Categories - Single answer") which allows the immediate display of the statistics of the answers. In a "Voting" survey, there is only one question, so there is no testing and no test data entries. The data also can't be edited or deleted.

1. Voting survey creation

Voting can be created by clicking on the 'Create survey' option and selecting the 'Voting' survey type.

2. Editing the voting survey

By default, there is no introduction, the exit page is hidden, and there is a pre-set question with a single answer. Here you can enter the desired question and possible answers, as well as set additional voting preferences in the left-hand window.

3. Voting survey settings

• You can choose if the voting will be an independent survey, which the respondents can access via an URL link, or if it will be embedded in a website.
• You can also select the option of the respondents selecting their gender;
• Within the 'Show intro / conclusion' section, you can set if the respondents see the intro and the exit pages;
• A graphic representation of the answers can be configured in the 'Display statistic' section. The statistics can be shown to all respondents or to administrators only.

Additional settings are displayed by clicking on the 'More settings' option:

• Survey duration or 'Survey start' and 'Survey end';
• Theme (design) choice for the survey; if you want to embed the voting in a website, then select the 'Embed' theme from the drop-down list.

If you want to prevent a respondent from voting multiple times, you need to use the 1KA system for sending email invitations:

4. Sending voting invitations using the 1KA system

In the 'PUBLISH' - 'Invitations' tab, enable the 1KA system for invitations.

Set the Settings for Email Server. Then, choose the right General invitations settings:

• Set the 'Personalized invitationst' to 'Yes';
• Leave the 'Type of invitations' as the default 'Send emails' option
• Leave the 'Code entry' as the default 'Automatically in the URL' option
• Leave the 'Enable the access to the survey without individualized invitation code' as the default unchecked option
• Click the 'Save' button

In the second step ('Add'), add the recipients: select the desired fields, and be sure to enter the email addresses. Then format the e-mail message, and send it.

In the third step ('View/Edit'), we can view the list of email addresses and whether the invitation was sent, as well as the respondent's survey status (non-answer, completed survey, ...).

5. Voting results

Voting results can be viewed in the 'ANALYSE' - 'Statistics' tab or, you want a graphical display of results, in the 'ANALYSE' - 'Graphs' tabs.

'Label' is not a standard question type, as respondents cannot answer it. It is suitable for the initial address of the respondents, or for additional explanations and clarifications between questions.

In the 'Categories - Multiple answers' question type, respondents are given the option to select one or more answers from a number of possible answers (categories).

It is also advisable to consider the possibility that we have not provided all possible answers and, if necessary, to add an 'Other' category to the question (semi-open question type). This allows the respondent to write in their own answer if they do not identify with any of the predefined categories. In this case, the analysis can be a bit more complex as the descriptive answers have to be recoded (e.g. 'apple', 'apple' and 'apples' recoded to the same value).
